Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment was initially created to help autistic children adapt and adjust in 1960; however, it is now used widely to cure other conditions. In Autistic children, this type of therapy first focuses on the functional relationship between a targeted behavior and the environment. Applied Behavior Analysis treatment seeks to help the autistic child to develop more socially acceptable alternatives to replace aberrant behaviors. Applied Behavior Analysis treatment works effectively when started in the early stages of an individual. Still, no evidence that proves beginning the treatment at any other age may not be helpfp.

What does Applied Behavior Analysis treatment look like?

An Applied Behavior Analysis treatment session typically begins with an intake consptation with a member of the Achievement Behavior Services team. During this time, a discussion of the child’s unique needs will be held, and parents will share their areas of concern. The team at ABC Essex will determine if you are eligible for Applied Behavior Analysis services, and the insurance process will be handled.

Your therapist at Achievement Behavior Services will thoroughly assess your child's skills level. This is done by a licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst. They will then evaluate your child's skill level as they develop a customized intervention plan that will be used as a guide. The therapist will want to know the individual’s strengths, weaknesses, needs, and goals. They will also involve the parents or legal guardians in setting goals of the in home aba therapy . Every goal set must be specific to the needs, measurable, assignable, and relevant to the child and their environment. The goal also needs to be time-based.

In Applied Behavior Analysis treatment, the set goals become more challenging as the treatment progresses. The therapist will incorporate various methods such as active responding and contingent observation to avoid stagnation and boredom. Therapists continuously work on these strategies to attain the desired goal. Applied Behavior Analysis treatment is administered in recurrence, and it lasts for a number of months to years.

Most sessions take two to four hours with a weekly 40 hours goal as the recommended time goal. A treatment session may either involve peer tutoring or a one-on-one session with the therapist. Through a series of analyses and evaluations of the respts collected from the sessions, a therapist can determine how much developmental progress is being made. Only usefp techniques are used to aid in the sessions in home aba therapy
